Diawara, Floyd Spark Brandywine To Third-Straight Win

MEDIA, Pa. – Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) combined for 62 points and the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team dealt Penn State Greater Allegheny its first conference loss in a 94-79 triumph Friday night.

Diawara knocked down eight three-pointers, two shy of a Brandywine single-game record, and poured in a career-high 31 points, while Floyd coupled 31 points with a team-best 14 rebounds.

Brandywine canned 15 three-pointers overall with 14 coming from Diawara and Floyd, scoring as many as 94 points for the first time since a victory over Penn State Beaver on January 19, 2018.

Diawara had the hot hand early for the Lions, burying four triples during the opening period. She notched 13 of Brandywine's 18 first quarter points, helping the Lions hold a two-point edge through one stanza.

The second quarter was Floyd's turn to take over offensively as she poured in 11 points. Brandywine capitalized on a 9-0 run, which started with a Floyd three-point play, spanning just over two minutes to extend the margin to 33-22. GA closed within eight, but a triple from Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) and two from Floyd helped the Lions outscore the visitors 9-0 during the final three minutes and expand the lead to 42-25 at the break.

Greater Allegheny trimmed the Lions' edge as low as 11 points by the 4:29 mark of the third quarter, but Brandywine answered with 11 of the next 13 points as the lead reached 20 points.

Floyd knocked down all five of her shots and Diawara added a trio of triples during the final quarter. The duo combined for 21 of Brandywine's 31 fourth quarter markers, helping Brandywine claim its third-straight victory.

Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) tallied 10 points, four assists and four steals, while Raelyn Loper (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) notched seven points, seven assists and three steals.

Brandywine shot 42 percent from the field and 45 percent from beyond the arc, while limiting Greater Allegheny to 31 percent shooting and forcing 25 turnovers.

Brandywine (3-3, 3-1 PSUAC) is right back in action Saturday at 12:00 PM against Penn State DuBois.
