Women's Basketball Downs Penn State Dubois

DUBOIS, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball defeated PSUAC opponent Penn State Dubois on Friday night, 59-50.

A successful three-point shot by Katelynn Himes (Frackville, PA / North Schuylkill High School) sparked a 14-4 Schuylkill surge, concluding the opening quarter and granting them a 21-14 advantage. Two successful baskets by Jasmine Wright (Sicklerville, NJ / Winslow Township High School) extended Schuylkill's lead to double digits with 8:11 remaining in the second period. Dubois managed to narrow the lead to 5 heading into halftime.

A basket by Dubois at the beginning of the third quarter brought their deficit to 31-28. Schuylkill promptly responded as a successful three-pointer by Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) capped off an 11-0 Schuylkill run with 5:42 remaining in the period, providing them with their largest lead of 14 points. Dubois reduced their deficit to 4 points with seconds remaining in the quarter, until late field goals by Crockett and Wright made it a three-possession game to begin the fourth.

Wright demonstrated her dominance during the fourth quarter, exchanging baskets with Dubois and contributing 8 out of 10 points for Schuylkill in the period as they ultimately defeated Dubois 59-50.

Wright led all scorers with 18 points to go with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Serena Jones (Tamaqua, PA / Tamaqua High School) added 12 points while Himes and Crockett notched 10 points each in the victory.

Schuylkill (3-8 overall, 2-3 PSUAC) will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, December 9th. Start time for that contest is 1:00 p.m.
