Women's Volleyball Falls at Home to Penn State Hazleton

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Volleyball hosted PSUAC opponent Penn State Hazleton on Saturday, falling to Hazleton in a closely fought contest.

Three consecutive aces by Ava Seltzer (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Schuylkill Haven) early in the first set evened the game at 8 apiece. Following back and forth play with Hazleton in the driver's seat, a kill and block by Maddy Robinson (Auburn, PA / Blue Mountain) leveled the score at 13. Robinson totaled 5 kills during the first set of action. Despite the back-and-forth battle, Hazleton managed to clinch the first set, winning closely 25-20.

Seltzer and Sydney Morton (Norfolk, VA / Gateway Christian Academy) connected twice, propelling Schuylkill to an 8-6 lead. However, Hazleton responded with a 12-2 stretch that shifted the momentum in their favor. Schuylkill fought hard, bringing the deficit to as much as seven, but Hazleton closed out the set. Hazleton carried their momentum from the previous two victories to the third set, winning by a large margin.

Schuylkill (4-6 overall, 1-4 PSUAC) will continue their home stretch as they host Penn State Brandywine on Monday, October 3rd.
