Brandywine Claims 5-0 Senior Day Victory

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team honored its seniors with a 5-0 Senior Day victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine seniors accounted for three of the team's five goals, including the first two as the Lions won for the 17th-straight time on their home field.

Kareem Sharaf (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) netted his first goal of the season early in the first half, giving Brandywine a 1-0 edge less than 10 minutes into the match. Twenty-three minutes later, Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) scored off a feed from fellow senior Christian Zavala (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and Brandywine brought a 2-0 edge into halftime.

Zavala added his second assist of the day as Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) headed in his free kick during the 70th minute. Less than two minutes later, Robbie Warren (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) made the count 4-0 off a feed from Peter Glass (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin).

Manful's team-high 22nd goal of the season capped the scoring at the 88:36 mark.

Brandywine recorded 33 of the match's 36 shots, including all 17 during the second half. The Lions put 16 on target, while goalkeeper Will Manarpaac (Boerne, Texas/Samuel V. Champion) needed to stop just one shot to record the shutout victory.

Brandywine will close out its home slate with a Tuesday match against Penn State Scranton at 3:00 PM.
