Hot-Shooting Brandywine Routs New Kensington Behind Record-Setting Offensive Output

MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine set the program's single-game point record during a rout of Penn State New Kensington as the Lions claimed a 100-37 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine's 100 points broke the previous mark of 98, which had been reached twice in team history (Feb. 3, 2016 vs. Penn State Mont Alto and Nov. 28, 2017 at Penn State Schuylkill). 

The Lions made 42 percent of their 99 shots from the field and buried 10 three-pointers, including seven off the hands of the game's leading scorer, Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro). 

Diawara poured in 27 points, one of six Lions to reach double figures. Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) produced 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds, while Raelyn Loper (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) collected a career-high 15 points and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) notched 12 points. Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) tallied a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double and Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) registered 11 points. 

Brandywine also played strong defense, holding an opponent under 40 points for the first time this season. The Lions netted 48 points off 32 New Kensington turnovers and held the visitors to 0-of-18 shooting from three-point range.

Floyd and Brombacher combined for the afternoon's first eight points and the Lions never looked back. Brandywine shot 60 percent from the field during the opening quarter and pulled away during the final minutes, using a 14-0 surge to establish a 37-11 edge after 10 minutes.

A 19-2 second quarter run helped Brandywine push the margin to 60-19 at the half and the team's lead was never threatened during the final 20 minutes.

Kiara Koger's (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) only basket of the game pushed Brandywine to the 100-point mark with 60 seconds to play. In addition, Koger dished out 10 assists and added six rebounds and four steals. 

Brandywine (5-7, 5-3 PSUAC) looks for its third-straight PSUAC win Tuesday at Penn State Mont Alto (6:00 PM).
