Soccer Battles in Western NY to Start the Season

(Niagara Falls, NY and Buffalo, NY)

Men's Soccer headed to western NY to kickoff the 2023 campaign with contests vs NJCAA opponent Niagara County Community College and USCAA opponent Bryant and Stratton Buffalo last weekend.

Saturday saw GA battle to a 0-0 draw in a physical, highly contested, match on a steamy, humidity filled afternoon in Niagara Falls. Chris Klinger kept a clean sheet and made 4 saves. 2 great scoring chances in the second half for GA came up just short. Jaylin Wescott also made a game saving goal line save that kept the game tied.

Sunday took GA to Buffalo for Bryant and Stratton's opening contest in program history. A 0-0 first half saw things quickly broken on the opening kickoff of the 2nd half when BSB scored within the first 10 seconds. A second goal came late in the match for BSB to go 2-0.

Bjorn Sigurdsson made it a game as the momentum was building in the final moments for GA scoring an 87th minute goal, his first of the season. Ultimately time ran out and GA fell for the first time this season.

Soccer is back in action on Friday at 3pm vs Carlow University at Highmark Stadium.
