Women's Basketball Wins Home Contest Against Fisher

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball defeated NAIA opponent Fisher College in what was the first of two consecutive matchups between the two teams, 63-49.

Schuylkill initiated the contest with a 10-0 run and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the first period, shooting at an outstanding 58 percent during that timeframe.

The dominance of Schuylkill persisted in the second period, where they displayed efficiency from the foul line, capitalizing on 7 out of 8 attempts.

A three-point shot by Ava Novak (New Media, PA / Southern Columbia High School) contributed further extended Schuylkill's lead to 20 points with 5:23 remaining in the third period.

Fisher's early run at the beginning of the fourth quarter was interrupted by a three-point basket from Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) extending Schuylkill's lead back to 19 points with 7:07 remaining in the game. Despite Fisher's efforts to narrow the deficit to single digits, it was the late-game heroics of Crockett that put the game out of reach, going 4-4 from the free-throw line.

Schuylkill showcased an 81 percent success rate from the free-throw line for the game, along with a 50 percent accuracy from three-point range.

Crockett led all scorers with 20 points to go with 5 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures were Novak and Serena Jones (Tamaqua, PA / Tamaqua High School) who finished with 13 points and 12 points respectively.

Schuylkill (4-9 overall, 2-4 PSUAC) will host Fisher College in the second half of their back-to-back on Tuesday, January 9th. Tip off time is set for 6:00 p.m.
