Big win for Volleyball against Greater Allegheny

McKeesport, PA- Fayette Volleyball gets big win against Greater Allegheny on the road.

Penn State Fayette Volleyball knew the battle they had on their hands Saturday afternoon at conference rival Penn State Greater Allegheny. Fayette volleyball had a rough start, dropping the first set 25-20 to G.A. However, the bounce back was explosive with back to back set scores of 25-15. Greater Allegheny put up an aggressive fight in the fourth, but it wasn't enough for a win. Fayette won the set 26-24, winning the match 3-1 on the road. Fayette has now clinched a home playoff berth for the PSUAC, putting the team in second on the PSUAC West side. 

"Well deserved win for the girls, very proud of today's outcome," said Coach Anna Tale when asked about the big win.

Fayette once again had multiple hitters in double digits for kills with Pasepa Driso Buwawa at 15 kills and Abigail Bickerton turning on the heat with her career high of 12 kills. The most impressive hitting stat of the game was the team hitting percentage achieved, with a .255 percentage. Fayette's defensive was up for the challenge of yesterday's match with an impressive 91 total digs and 15 total blocks for the team. Fayette had five players in double digits for digs with, Mercyangelis Gonzalez-Morillo with 18 digs, Adela Blough with 18 digs, Tyannah Eddings with 15 digs, Pasepa Driso-Buwawa 14 digs, and Emma Eckert with 13 digs. Emma Eckert also added 26 assists and Rylan Musgrove added 22 assists. 

Fayette will now finish the regular season with two of the three games left at home, beginning with a game Monday night against Penn State Dubois at 7:00 P.M. Fayette will finish their regular season and have Recognition Night on Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 P.M. where they will take on Penn State Mont Alto. Penn State Mont Alto is undefeated in the PSUAC. The last time the two teams met was at Penn State Mont Alto, where it resulted in a fifth game loss of 16-14 for Fayette.
