Women's Basketball Loses to Penn State Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Penn State Schuylkill Women's Basketball lost their road matchup to PSUAC opponent Penn State Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

An 8-0 surge propelled Lehigh Valley to a ten-point lead with 3:54 left in the opening period. Schuylkill narrowed the gap to single digits by the end of the quarter after Ava Novak (Numidia, PA / Southern Columbia High School) sank a jump shot with seconds remaining.

In the second quarter, Lehigh Valley went on a 13-4 streak, increasing their lead to 20 points with 5:01 remaining. Despite Schuylkill's aggressive play, scoring on four of their next five possessions, Lehigh Valley countered effectively and maintained their advantage by halftime.

Lehigh Valley continued their strong performance in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field.

Novak finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School) scored 11 points and collected 5 rebounds. Serena Jones (Tamaqua, PA / Tamaqua High School) secured a 10-point, 11 rebound double-double in the loss.

Schuylkill (13-15 overall, 7-10 PSUAC) will travel to Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday, February 19th for their next matchup. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
