Manful Scores Four In Lions’ Home Tournament Win

MEDIA, Pa. -- Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) scored four times as the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team rolled past Central Penn College in the opening game of its home tournament by a 6-0 score on Saturday.

Zack Bardwell (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) linked up with Manful for the match's first goal at the 7:45 mark. Manful added a second first-half goal via penalty kick during the 31st minute.

Brandywine poured in on during the second period, adding four more goals to its ledger.

Manful recorded his third goal when Bardwell again found him with a crossing pass in front of the net at the 48:58 mark.

Brandywine's fourth score of the day came thanks to a Central Penn own goal, while Mikey Dunham (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) headed home Peter Glass' (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) corner kick for a 5-0 Brandywine edge. Manful capped the scoring at the 75:00 mark thanks to a feed from Ali Abdelhady (Dubai, UAE/Nord Anglia Intl. School).

Brandywine held a commanding 20-4 edge in shots after outshooting the Knights 13-0 in the second half. Lions' goalkeeper Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) stopped two shots, both during the first stanza, to record his first clean sheet of the season.

Brandywine (2-1) will meet SUNY ESF in the tournament championship Sunday at 1:00 PM.
