Brandywine Falls 3-0 At Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Penn State Hazleton on Monday night.

Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) led the Lions with 11 digs and 13 assists, while Sydney Terrell (Walkersville, Md./St. John's Catholic Prep) tallied seven digs.

Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) coupled a team-high seven kills with five digs and Terrell produced three of Brandywine's five service aces.

The hosts built a nine-point lead during the first set, but Brandywine rallied to tie the count at 23-all following a Ramirez kill; however, Hazleton bounced back with two-straight points to claim the opening set.

Brandywine trailed 17-16 during set No. 2 before Hazleton took control, tallying eight of the final 10 points.

The hosts led for the duration of the final set to claim the sweep and earn a split of the season series with Brandywine.

Brandywine (8-6, 6-2 PSUAC) will return home Thursday to face Penn State Lehigh Valley at 7:00 PM.
