NHTI Advance to USCAA Men's Semi-Final with 76-70 Victory over Penn State Mont Alto

UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania (NHTI) – The NHTI Men's Basketball Team advanced to the USCAA National Championship Semi-Final on Sunday holding off Penn State Mont Alto by a 76-70 final.

The Lynx held a lead for most of the contest and held a 11 point lead with 58 second left before the Nittany Lions went on a 9-0 run to trim the lead to two points with 12 seconds left.

NHTI held on as Shaquille Barrett (Houston, TX) hit a pair of clutch free throws to secure the victory. Barrett led the team in scoring off the bench tallying 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds. J'Quavious Thurmond (Monticello, GA) contributed 17 points (7-9 FG, 0-2 3-FG, 3-6 FT), six rebounds and five assists. Dante Cingire (Fairfield, IA) added 14 points (4-8 FG, 4-8 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds.

The Lynx will now compete on Tuesday with a 7pm start against either #1 Johnson & Wales Charlotte or #8 Southern Maine CC.
