Brandywine Offense Returns As Lions Roll Past York

MEDIA, Pa. -- After failing to score in three consecutive games, the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team got plenty of offense on Wednesday as the Lions cruised to a 12-0 home victory over Penn State York.

Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) and Ali Abdelhady (Dubai, UAE/Nord Anglia International School) both found the back of the net three times, while Tyrese Sanchez (Bethel, Pa./Tulpehocken) netted a pair of goals. Brandywine had seven goal scorers overall, while 12 players recorded at least one point.

Abdelhady sandwiched a pair of goals around markers from Manful and Sanchez as Brandywine built a 4-0 lead less than 20 minutes into the match. Manful completed his hat trick at the 39:40 mark and Abdelhady potted his third tally of the game less than four minutes later, giving the Lions a 7-0 edge at halftime.

Sanchez scored the first of Brandywine's five second-half goals during the 53rd minute and Robbie Warren (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) added the Lions' ninth goal of the afternoon at the 67:33 mark.

Ethan Faulkner (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina), Julio Lopez (New Castle, Del./St. George's Tech) and Omar Simpson (Bear, Del./Christiana) accounted for the final three goals for Brandywine during a span of 3:14 later in the second period.

Three Brandywine goalkeepers went untested in net. Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) played the first 45 minutes, earning the win. The Lions outshot York 46-3.

Brandywine (5-3-1, 2-0 PSUAC) will travel to Penn State New Kensington Saturday for a 1:00 PM match.
