Hartman scores 19, Mont Alto picks up second straight conference win

Kaleigh Hartman scored a team-high 19 points and Dariana Perez added 16 as Penn State Mont Alto held onto a 24-20 halftime lead to defeat Penn State Hazleton 52-44 on Tuesday night. Tuesday also marked the second annual Community Leaders Appreciation Night game in which eleven community leaders and advisory board members were introduced at halftime for their efforts within the community.

 

Perez had a very solid first quarter for Mont Alto as she chipped in nine points, including six made free throws and six steals. Azaria Johnson matched her step for step from Hazleton as she has eight points after the first quarter as Mont Alto led 11-10 after one. Mont Alto forced nine second quarter turnovers and took a 24-20 advantage into the break.

 

Hazleton fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Mont Alto 16-14 and trailing 38-36. Hartman would take over the fourth quarter from behind the arc as she converted on two of four long range attempts and added eight points in the final frame. Mont Alto also converted on both free throw attempts for a 52-44 victory.
