Brandywine Completes Season Sweep Of Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team finished off a two-game season sweep of Penn State Scranton by recording a lopsided 95-61 victory on Wednesday night.

The Lions shot over 53 percent (26-49) during the first half, opening up a 60-24 lead by intermission.  

Brandywine scored on 10 consecutive possessions during a 22-4 run that gave the Lions a 16-point advantage early in the first quarter. Six players netted five or more points during the first quarter for Brandywine, which led 37-16 through 10 minutes.

Leading 39-20 just over three minutes into the second quarter, Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) combined for 10 points during a 12-0 run that pushed the lead to 30 points for the first time. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) and Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) accounted for all nine Brandywine points during the final two minutes of the half and the Lions held a 36-point edge at halftime.

A Floyd three-pointer at the 6:57 mark of the third quarter capped a 12-0 surge to begin the second half and the Lions never looked back.

Floyd made her first seven shots of the night and finished 12-of-17 shooting, pouring in a team-high 27 points. Diawara added 18 points, while Stewart-Harold and Athena Brombacher (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood) rounded out the Lions' double-figure scorers with 10 points each.

Brombacher pulled in a team-high 10 rebounds and Allen grabbed eight boards, while Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) contributed seven points, five assists and five steals.

Brandywine shot 47 percent from the field. The Lions forced 28 Scranton turnovers and limited the hosts to 36 percent shooting.

Brandywine (11-9, 9-5 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Lehigh Valley Saturday at noon.
