2010's All-Decade Team: Golf

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference has announced its plans to honor All-Decade Teams for PSUAC Championship sports for the years between 2010-2020. The Tournament and Awards Committee has reviewed the hundreds of nominees submitted by our 14 member campuses, and selected the best-of-the-best. We look forward to sharing these teams with you.

We present to you our 2010s Golf All-Decade Team (presented in alphabetical order). We thank our campus athletic administrators for providing the write-ups for our honorees.

 

Nick Engelman, Penn State Lehigh Valley

Nick Engelman was a two-year member of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Golf team from 2016-2018. Engelman earned the PSUAC Championship Medalist, was a two-time USCAA 1st Team All American and two-time PSUAC All-Conference. Engelman excelled off the golf course as well, being awarded USCAA National All-Academic twice, an honor which goes to student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher. 

Evan Fahs, Penn State Lehigh Valley 

Evan Fahs was a two-year member of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Golf team from 2017-2019. In his two years, he achieved many accolades including USCAA 1st Team All-American, PSUAC Championship Medalist, two-time PSUAC All-Conference and was selected as Lehigh Valley golf's John Fritz Sportsmanship Award Winner. Fahs was also named Penn State Lehigh Valley's Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Fahs averaged in the mid-70's over the course of his two seasons. 

Thomas Gaudette, Penn State Scranton

Tommy Gaudette is a current golfer at Penn State Scranton, who in his freshman year in 2019, garnered top 10 finishes in every match throughout Scranton’s inaugural PSUAC season, including some impressive top five finishes. In his first collegiate match, Gaudette shot an impressive 79, earning a top 10 individual finish and helping Scranton place 4th out of 11 teams on the course in their first match in the conference. At the PSUAC/USCAA Championship match in State College, Gaudette tied for 29th place shooting a 78 and earning PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference and All-Academic team. 

Austin Green, Penn State Mont Alto

Austin Green was a three-time letter winner in golf at Penn State Mont Alto. As a freshman in 2015, Green was named to the PSUAC All-Conference team, took home the conference Individual Medalist trophy and received USCAA All-American honors. The following year he led his team to a PSUAC team conference title and for the second year in a row received both PSUAC All-Conference and USCAA All-American honors. However, his most successful year was in 2018, winning two invitationals, capturing his second PSUAC Individual Champion trophy, and earning All-Conference and All-American honors for the third time in his career. Green also excelled in the classroom, receiving USCAA All-Academic team recognition in 2015, 2016, and 2018 and was also named to multiple PSUAC All-Academic conference teams. 

Ty Morzilla, Penn State Hazleton 

Ty Morzilla won four regular season events and nabbed two runner-up finishes on an individual basis during his two seasons at Penn State Hazleton. During the 2014 PSUAC/USCAA Championships, Morzilla shot a one over par round of 73 to surge past multiple competitors and capture the PSUAC Individual Medalist honors, besting his nearest competition by five strokes.  

Adam Stawski, Penn State New Kensington 

Adam Stawski was a two-year letter winner in golf at New Kensington in 2009 and 2012. As a freshman in 2009, he set a New Kensington campus individual scoring record with a four-under par 68 to win the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational. Stawski then finished as runner-up in the 2009 PSUAC Championships while also garnering USCAA All-American status. Making a return to the links in 2012, Stawski again finished as a USCAA All-American, this time receiving top honors in the conference as the PSUAC Medalist. He was also a high performer academically, earning a spot on the USCAA National All-Academic Team and PSUAC Academic All-Conference. 

Nick Tristani, Penn State Hazleton 

Nick Tristani captained Penn State Hazleton and took home the PSUAC Individual title in 2011. Tristani was a two-year letter winner in golf.

Jonathan Wilson, Penn State Wilkes-Barre

Jonathan Wilson was a six-time PSUAC Tournament Medalist in men’s golf at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Wilson made both the PSUAC and USCAA Academic All-American teams all four years from 2015-2018. In 2018 Wilson earned PSUAC All-Conference and the USCAA All-American honors and was perenially near the top of the leaderboard. Wilson was also the PSUAC Tournament Individual Runner-Up in 2018.

Brian Zinman, Penn State Lehigh Valley

Brian Zinman was a four-year member of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Golf team from 2016-2020. He lead his team to the 2019 PSUAC Golf Championship, where he was also the PSUAC Individual Medalist. Zinman earned PSUAC All-Conference honors three times, and led Lehigh Valley in scoring 13 out of 20 matches he appeared in, averaging low 70’s consistently over his career.
