Brandywine Repeats As Chancellor's Cup Champions

CHANCELLOR'S CUP STANDINGS

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference spring championship season has come to an end, and with it we finalize our Chancellor's Cup standings. For the third year in a row, Penn State Brandywine captured the coveted crown that rewards comprehensive excellence across PSUAC sponsored sports.

Brandywine finished with 67.5 points, 12.5 points ahead of runner-up Penn State Beaver. Following the winter season, Brandywine led Beaver by only 2.5 points, but a strong spring catapulted Brandywine well ahead of their closest challenger. The southeastern campus won three total championships in the 2018-19 academic year, including men's soccer, women's soccer and softball. Brandywine was also aided by all eight programs making the PSUAC playoffs.

Beaver, the Chancellor's Cup winner three years ago, managed to finish second despite not winning a conference title. Runner-up finishes in men's soccer, volleyball and women's basketball helped propel them into the number two spot.

Penn State DuBois finished sixth, but captured the second-highest number of championships with two, including golf and baseball. Other conference champions were Fayette (volleyball), Lehigh Valley (women's basketball) and York (men's basketball).

The Chancellor's Cup awards points based on conference finish, with an aggregate total of all sports comprising the final standings. The title is meant to recognize the PSUAC member that has had the most comprehensive and well-rounded success during the academic year.

Not only did Brandywine capture the most conference titles in 2018-19, but also captured their first national title ever--the 2018 USCAA Men's Soccer Division II National Championship held in November in Virginia Beach. Brandywine will be recognized for their Chancellor's Cup win at the 2019 PSUAC Awards Banquet to be held at the Nittany Lion Inn on Monday, May 20th.
