PSUAC Releases Basketball All-Conference Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference has released its 2018-19 Men's and Women's Basketball All-Conference teams, as nearly 60 student-athletes received recognition for their outstanding seasons on the court. 

Leading the way are Players of the Year from each division. Penn State Hazleton's McKenzie Prutsman earned Women's East Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring at 28.3 points per game. On the opposite side, Penn State Beaver's Diamond Thomas earned West Player of the Year after leading the division in scoring and field goal percentage to help lead Beaver to the number one seed in the West. 

On the men's side, Penn State Lehigh Valley's Jeremiah Jenkins took home East Player of the Year recognition for leading the conference in scoring at 23.2 points per game. Jalen Smith of Penn State Mont Alto was third in the conference in scoring while leading his team to a division title.

Coach of the Year went to two division winners, as Lehigh Valley's Lorie Khalil earned the nod as Women's Coach of the Year after an impressive 21-2 campaign, including a perfect 17-0 conference record. Mont Alto's Jack Schenzel led his team to a Men's West Division crown, finishing 16-3 in PSUAC play and 20-6 overall. 

Other specialty awards include Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Rookies of the Year include: Kion Andrews, Lehigh Valley (Women's East); Kaitlyn Riley, Fayette (Women's West); Jacob Hunt, Brandywine (Men's East); and Gannon Murray, Shenango (Men's West). Defensive Players of the Year are: Jah'nel Oliver, Lehigh Valley (Women's East); Jimya Chambers, Beaver (Women's West); Ameer Biddle, Wilkes-Barre (Men's East); and Quintyn Flemister, Mont Alto (Men's West).

PSUAC All-Conference awards for team sports are nominated and voted on by the member campus coaching or administrative staffs. Individual sports, golf and cross country, are based on results from the PSUAC Championship events in those respective sports.
