Mont Alto sophomore Alex Cline has been named this week's PSUAC Student-Athlete of the Week for baseball as a hitter. In the second consecutive week to retain the honor, the sophomore posted a .600 batting average (6-of-10) through a 4-0 Penn State University Athletic Conference week. The righty came up big for the Lions with seven runs with help from three doubles and a triple. Alex increases his season total of stolen bases to 16 with four swiped.
The infielder assisted his defense with four putouts alongside 15 assists at shortstop.
Cline worked hard for Mont Alto through the battles with Worthington-Scranton, 8-1 and 18-0. Alex posted 7-of-8 (.875) from the plate with four runs batted in and three runs scored himself.
The Waynesboro native currently resides in third place in the PSUAC with a overall batting average of .492 along with second place in the PSUAC and fourth place in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for stolen bases with 16.
