Zinman Captures Medalist Honors, Headlines Players of the Week

Here are this week's Players of the Week! This week we recognize nine student-athletes from six campuses for their outstanding performances on the court or field. We had our first championship event of the year--a rain-shortened golf championship at the Penn State Blue Course where Brian Zinman of Penn State Lehigh Valley captured the crown!

Nyoah Marteny, Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Marteny raced to a win at the Bud Smitley Invitational at Penn State Harrisburg. Marteny won the 5K by 10 seconds, finishing in 17:05. His finish helped his team win the team title, as nine of the top 14 finishers were from Fayette.

Madison Ford, Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Madison Ford was the first runner for Mont Alto to cross the finish line this past Saturday at the Goucher College XC Classic. The sophomore earned medalist honors with her ninth place finish in the women’s 6K race with a recorded time of 34:18.14.

Brian Zinman, Golfer of the Week

Zinman capped his career by helping his team with the 2019 PSUAC Golf Championship, while also capturing individual medalist honors. Zinman finished the rain-shortened event with a one-over par 73 on the Penn State Blue Course, besting two players by just a shot. His teammates contributed to a 308 total on the day, good enough for a fourth place finish in the USCAA Golf National Championship.

Joshua Zakrzewski, Men's Goalie of the Week

Joshua Zakrzewski had a perfect week for PSU New Kensington, not allowing any goals in two wins. The senior made six saves in a 1-0 win against Mont Alto. Zakrzewski now has four shutouts on the season.

Ronaldo Calle, Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Ronaldo Calle recorded nine points on four goals and one assist during a 2-0 week for Brandywine. He recorded the first three-goal game of his career Wednesday in a win over York and added a goal in Sunday's road victory at Pratt.

Emily Bush, Women's Soccer Goalie of the Week

Bush made 21 stops in two games during a 1-1 week for Brandywine. She recorded her second shutout of the season and 18th of her career, stopping all 13 shots she faced in a 1-0 victory over Division III Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday. Bush also tallied eight stops in a loss at Widener earlier in the week.

Brianna Banks, Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Brianna Banks extended her goal-scoring streak to eight games with three scores in two games last week. She found the back of the net twice against Widener and then scored the game-winning goal of a 1-0 victory over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday.

Allison Easton, Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Easton had an all-around impressive week, tallying 63 digs in her last four matches for an average of 4.20 digs per set. She also had 21 total blocks on the week, including 18 solo blocks. In addition to her defense, she led her team on offense with 59 kills, 21 blocks, and 13 aces.

Jenna Hyde, Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Hyde continues to deliver at the setter position, racking up 113 assists, 34 digs, 7 blocks, and 10 service aces to help lead her team to a 3-1 record this past week. She capped the week with 38 assists in DuBois' win against PSUAC rival Penn State Beaver in a 3-2 victory.
