Mooney, Smith Lead Player of the Week Pack

Here are this week's Players of the Week! This week we recognize nine student-athletes from four campuses for their outstanding performances on the court or field. It was a long weekend as the PSUAC Volleyball Crossover was held at University Park, and the conference season for soccer is in full swing.

All individual award winner's announcement can also be found on their respective sport pages and in Player of the Week archives.

PSUAC Players of the Week are nominated by their individual campus and selected by the conference office from a list of nominees. Click on the award winners name for their full POTW profile!

Brian Abel, Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Brian Abel led Brandywine at the team's home meet, finishing in a time of 29:12 on the Lions' course, considered one of the toughest in the area. Abel's time was second-best in the 96-runner field. Abel helped Brandywine finish second in the team scoring in a field of 11 men's teams.

Catharine Mooney, Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Mooney made history on Saturday, becoming Brandywine's first female to claim individual medalist honors, doing so on her home course. Her time of 27:46 was the third-fastest 6K time of her career and bested the runner-up by 25 seconds during the 45-competitor race.

Alex Smith, Golfer of the Week

Freshman Alex Smith shot his two lowest rounds of the season last week. At the PSUAC Blue Invitational on Monday, Smith shot a 76 which put him in a tie for fifth place in the field of nearly 70 golfers. Smith followed that performance up with a 75 on Thursday, which earned him medalist honors at the PSU Greater Allegheny Invitational.

Juan Guerrero, Men's Goalie of the Week

Guerrero went 3-0 with three shutouts last week for Penn State Brandywine. Guerrero made one stop against Penn State Scranton and went untested in a 5-0 win over Christendom, playing all 90 minutes in each match. He stopped three shots in a 1-0 victory over Wilson College on Monday with two of those saves coming during the final five minutes.

Gavin Birch, Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Birch scored five times and tallied 11 points overall during a 3-0 week against USCAA competition for Penn State Brandywine. He scored three times in a win over Penn State Scranton and added a goal against Christendom. One day later, Birch collected a goal and an assist in the Lions' win at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Emily Bush, Women's Soccer Goalie of the Week

Bush earned her second victory of the season by shutting out Penn State Scranton on Wednesday as she made one stop in the win. She added four more saves on five chances in a 5-1 triumph over Lancaster Bible on Monday afternoon.

Emma Wyllie, Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Wyllie notched two hat tricks in three games played last week, and added an assist and Hazleton went 2-1. Her week included the game-winning goal on the road against Penn State Beaver. The sophomore now has 14 goals on the season and leads her team in points.

Kaylie Petrusky, Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Petrusky recorded 57 digs at the PSUAC crossover weekend, leading her team to a 4-0 record against PSUAC East Division teams. Petrusky averaged nearly five digs a set as DuBois swept all four matches they played.

Allison Easton, Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Easton had an impressive performance at the PSUAC crossover weekend. She tallied 69 kills, 45 digs, six blocks, and had a .365 hitting percentage. She led her team to a perfect 4-0 weekend without dropping a set. Additionally she surpassed the 500 career kill mark.
