Charlton, Gerber Lead Teams to Perfect Weeks for POTW Honors

Only a week left until finals, which means the fall portion of our basketball season is coming to a close soon. Last week was packed with conference action, and two players stood out above some phenomenal performances across the state.

Joe Charlton, Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Joe Charlton impressed during the most recent crossover weekend, averaging 20.5 points per game and pulling down 29 rebounds in two games as he led Penn State Greater Allegheny to a 2-0 record during the week. Charlton collected two double-doubles, first with 21 points and 17 rebounds against Penn State Lehigh Valley and then again with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Penn State Brandywine. Charlton shot better than 60 percent from the field as well, and tallied eight blocks in the two games.

Alyssa Gerber, Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Alyssa Gerber helped lead Penn State Schuylkill to a pair of PSUAC victories last week, averaging a double-double with 16.5 points per game and grabbing 34 rebounds in the two contests, including an average of six offensive rebounds a game. Gerber shot 44 percent from the field and nearly 80 percent from the free throw line to help Schuylkill maintain a tie for the East division lead.
